Business Continuity Simulation Jan 7th 2025 - Multiple Services Affected from 07-01-25 09:00 GMT to 07-01-25 17:30 GMT
Updates
Yesterday, IT Services completed a business continuity simulation on one of UCC’s key datacentres. As a result of the simulation, you may have encountered network and connectivity issues. We can confirm these issues have since been resolved.
The following services are operational again:
o Citrix/Virtual App
o Content Management System (CMS) for the ucc.ie website
o RDS or SSH Gateways to access on campus PCs or servers
o Staff access to the Student Administration System, ITS
o Student access to MyStudentAdmin
IT Services would like to thank you for your patience and support during the simulation. Testing our business continuity processes is crucial to help us react, respond, and recover from a cyber or IT infrastructure incident in UCC.
Business Continuity Simulation planned for Jan 7th - Mulitple Services Affected
Between 09:30 and 12:30 there will be some interruption to the following services:
• Citrix/VirtualApp will continue to be available, but staff may notice a request to logon twice (this is because our single sign-on server will be unavailable).
• Staff will not be able to publish new content to the UCC web site www.ucc.ie, because the content management system (CMS) will be unavailable.
• Staff and third-party support vendors who use our RDS or SSH Gateways to access on campus PCs or servers will see some interruptions.
Between 9:30 and 16:30:
• The Student Administration System ITS will be unavailable to central administration staff (impacted staff have already been notified).
• The MyStudentAdmin service will be unavailable to students.
